Home Made Christmas Decor: Holiday Designing with Children

Decorating your house for Christmas need not be costly or time consuming; indeed these homely decors that you can make with your kids recommend the basic pleasures of a family Christmas. Making paper chains each year is a lovely method to mark the start of Advent. In a period when most Christmas goods are offered instantly and can be extremely pricey, home crafted decors provide a slower and gentler state of mind to your Christmas preparations.
Make your own paper chains
You just need sheets of normal workplace white paper and some inexpensive water based paints such as poster paints, or, if you have them, sheets of colored paper. If using white paper, paint each side of the paper in a wash of intense colored paints and enable to dry thoroughly.
Holly, Ivy and Mistletoe
Purchase low-cost red ribbon, the type that is sold in reels for embellishing presents. Tie packages of holly, mistletoe and ivy with lengths of ribbon and either suspend the bunches or lay bigger lots on tables or the mantelpiece. Leave plenty of ribbon connected to each bundle and curl it with the blade of a blunt pair of scissors. Then the embellishing possibilities are endless, if you have other winter plant available. Do make sure to make sure that the lots of greenery are out of the reach of kids.

Paper Snowflakes
Making paper snowflakes is an enjoyable and creative activity. Each snowflake is distinct and it is a great method to discuss the individuality of each real snowflake and the remarkable way in which snow is formed.
You will require scissors (special safe paper cutting scissors for young children) and regular white workplace paper.
Trace a circle onto the white paper.
Eliminate the circle with scissors.
Fold the circle in half, then into quarters, and finally into 1/8ths.
Cut a pattern inside the folds (see the picture listed below for an example).
Unfold your lovely, special snowflake. Snowflakes can be can be repaired to the window for a beautiful seasonal effect, or glued onto a homemade greetings card.
